１．お金（生活）のための仕事は生産性が高い

お金のために仕事をしている人は仕事に価値を見いだしていません。できるだけ早く仕事を終わらせようとする力が働くため、システム化が進み、分業化や専門化が進みます。同じことを短時間で繰り返すような仕事の仕方になります。無駄なことをできるだけ排除する仕事の仕方をするため生産性が上がるのです。ただし前提条件として就業時間で拘束しないことです。一般的な会社や公務員にみられるようなきっちり就業時間が決められている場合、この力は働きにくいです。手を抜くのは時間という縛りがあるためです。

２．成長のための仕事は生産性が低い

成長のために仕事をしている人は仕事自体に価値を見いだします。なんでもかんでも自分で引き受けようとする力が働くため、個別化が進み一般化が進みます。広い分野の仕事を多くの時間を掛けて成長のための仕事をすることになります。長期的には生産性を向上させるかもしれませんが、あくまでも可能性にしか過ぎません。体裁を整えて見たり、過剰な説明資料を用意したり、ホウレンソウや人脈作成に力を注いだりと仕事へのこだわりは、本業以外にもリソースを配分してしまいます。つまり、生産性を落とす行為なのです。
